Creality Falcon 10W settings: engrave and cut cheat sheet

A laser cutting a sheet of plywood on a honeycomb bed

Starting-point power, speed and pass settings for the Creality Falcon 10W (CR-Laser Falcon 10W, diode, 10 W optical, 455 nm, 400 × 415 mm bed) in LightBurn or LaserGRBL, including the engraving, slate-and-tile and leather figures owners search for. This page is for the original Falcon 10W, not the Falcon2 or A1 Pro. Every machine and material batch differs and we have not run a Falcon 10W through our own shop, so treat these as a fast start from Creality's published parameter sheet, then confirm with a test grid.

Creality Falcon 10W settings (power % / speed mm/min / passes)

These are starting points from Creality's own published "Recommended parameters for CR 10W engraver" sheet, not results from our own test cuts — Grafline has not run a Falcon 10W through its shop. Creality lists engraving and cutting rows per material and thickness; the table below copies the engraving rows and the thin-material cutting rows whole, with the operation label Creality gave each one. Speeds are mm/min, as in LightBurn and LaserGRBL. Confirm every row with a material test grid on a scrap of the same stock.

Wood cutting is deliberately not in this table. Creality's sheet shows single-pass cuts in wood that are much faster than the 5–10 W row on our power & speed chart (for example 2 mm basswood at 350 mm/min in one pass, where our chart starts 3 mm plywood at 100% / 180 / 3–4 passes). Basswood is the cleanest, glue-free wood, and plywood glue lines slow a diode a lot. For plywood and MDF, start from the chart's 5–10 W row (3 mm plywood 100% / 180 / 3–4 passes, 3 mm MDF 100% / 200 / 3 passes, 2 mm leather 90% / 250 / 1–2 passes) and speed up only after a test grid shows a clean back face.

Stainless steel and bare metal: Creality lists stainless steel at 100% / 500, but a ~455 nm diode barely marks bright bare steel. Treat that row as dark or coated stainless, and see diode laser metal marking spray for bare metal.

Always: run air assist on cuts, set focus with the multi-level focus block for the exact thickness, and lift the stock off the bed so the beam does not scorch the honeycomb or table. Creality's own sheet says the same: the cut line should be suspended, over a steel plate or other surface the beam does not burn through.

What a Falcon 10W needs next to it

The Falcon 10W is an open-frame diode: the beam and the smoke are out in the room while it runs.

Bed size: what actually fits

Creality gives the Falcon 10W an engraving area of 400 × 415 mm (15.7 × 16.3 in), the same bed as the 5 W Falcon and the heavier Falcon Pro 10W. The optical output is 10 W at 455 ± 5 nm and the maximum engraving speed is 10,000 mm/min.

Fitting parts onto the sheet efficiently is where material cost is actually won or lost. Our nesting tool takes your file and this bed size and tells you parts per sheet; the sheet yield calculator does the same from plain dimensions.

What the Creality Falcon 10W cannot do

Troubleshooting: symptom, cause, fix

SymptomUsual causeFix
Cut does not go through, top looks fineFocus set for the wrong thickness, or speed too high for the pass countMove the multi-level focus block to the right step (lowest for 1–3 mm, middle for 4–6 mm, highest above 7 mm per Creality's manual), then slow down before adding a pass. Check the back face, not the top.
Engraving or cutting looks weak at default settingsCopying CO2 settings or software defaults onto a diodeA 10 W diode cuts at hundreds of mm/min, not thousands. Drop cut speed to a few hundred mm/min at 100% and add passes.
Edges heavily charred or flamingNo air assist, or too many slow passes stacking heatTurn air assist on: strong airflow for cutting, weak for engraving, as Creality's FAQ recommends. Prefer fewer, faster passes.
Power drops over time, or marks fadeSmoke film on the laser module's protective lensWith the machine powered off, wipe the lens with a dust-free cloth and a little alcohol, as Creality's sheet instructs.
Machine reads the wrong file from the TF cardIt opens the newest G-code file in the card's root folderDelete other .gcode / .gc files from the root of the card. Only G-code made in LightBurn is read.
Clear acrylic does nothing at allPhysics, not settingsA diode cannot cut clear acrylic. Switch to opaque stock or a CO2 machine.

If none of that helps, work through why won't my laser cut all the way through? or how to stop burn marks on wood.

Material cost per sheet

Settings tell you the time; material tells you the rest of the price, and Creality does not publish that part — it depends on your supplier and moves with the market. Our where to buy laser materials guide lists suppliers worth comparing before you buy a full sheet. Once you know the price per sheet, the cutting time calculator turns your file and this machine's speeds into a full per-job cost.

FAQ

What are the best Creality Falcon 10W settings?

There is no single best setting, but Creality's own parameter sheet gives starting points per material: 2 mm basswood engraves at 40% power and 3000 mm/min in one pass, 0.65 mm brown leather at 20% and 3000, and 4.5 mm black acrylic at 50% and 3000. For cutting, a 10 W diode works in hundreds of mm/min, not thousands, so start slow at 100% power with air assist and confirm with a test grid.

What are the Creality Falcon 10W cutting settings for wood?

Creality's sheet shows 100% power in every wood cut and speeds from 350 mm/min (2 mm basswood) down to 150 mm/min (5 mm), with 8 mm basswood needing three passes at 230 mm/min. Those are best-case figures on clean basswood. For plywood and MDF our chart's 5-10 W row is a safer start: 100% / 180 / 3-4 passes for 3 mm plywood. Always run air assist.

What are the Creality Falcon 10W LightBurn settings?

The Falcon 10W is a GRBL machine and works with LightBurn and LaserGRBL. Use the power %, speed in mm/min and passes from the table above as the layer values, with a 400 x 415 mm work area. Creality's manual lists 254 DPI as the engraving precision. If a preset from Creality's own software looks wrong, run a small test square in LightBurn instead of trusting the imported percentage.

What are the Creality Falcon 10W LaserGRBL settings?

LaserGRBL takes the same numbers: power is the S value (as a share of your S-max setting), speed is F in mm/min, and passes are set in the cutting dialog. Use Creality's engraving rows as a start and confirm on scrap before the real job.

What are the Creality Falcon 10W slate settings?

Creality does not publish a slate row. Its closest row is white ceramic tile painted black at 95% and 3800 mm/min in one pass, and slate on our chart's 5-10 W row starts at 80% and 2500 mm/min. Use the slower slate figure and test, since slate varies a lot between batches.

Can the Creality Falcon 10W cut metal or clear acrylic?

No to both. A 455 nm diode cannot cut metal, and clear acrylic is transparent at that wavelength, so the beam passes through. The Falcon 10W marks anodised aluminium and painted metal directly (Creality lists 100% / 200 for 3 mm anodised aluminium), and bare steel needs a marking spray. It cuts dark, opaque acrylic slowly: 4.5 mm black acrylic is two passes at 100% / 120 in Creality's sheet.

Is the Creality Falcon 10W still sold?

Yes. Creality's own store pages were still listing the 10W CR-Laser Falcon in late October 2026, though stock varies by region and the newer Falcon2 and A1 Pro lines are the current flagships. The settings above also apply to owners of the older unit.
